One of the shortest men in the world, Troyer started his career as a stunt-double and extra, appearing in movies like Men in Black, RocketMan, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Troyer Has Battled Alcoholism for Year and has Been to Rehab at Least Twice Before

In a statement on April 6th, Troyer said, “As you know, I’ve battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day.” The actor, who was reportedly hospitalized in San Fernando, California, has fought alcoholism for many years.

In 2002, Troyer nearly died of alcohol poisoning after a breakup with Genevieve Gallen, his wife of two months. In 2009, the actor was faced with a restraining order from an LA judge, after ex-girlfriend Yvette Monet claimed that he sent her a litany of abusive texts and emails, some of them indirectly hinting at violence.
